Abkhazia and Syria concluded the Agreement on duty-free trade
The agreement was signed in development of the basic Treaty on friendship and cooperation between the republics, signed by President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba and Syrian President Bashar Assad on September 4.

Sukhum. 6 September. Apsnypress. Minister of Economy of the Republic of Abkhazia Adgur Ardzinba and Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade of the Syrian Arab Republic Muhammad Samer Khalil signed an intergovernmental agreement on trade and economic cooperation.

According to Adgur Ardzinba, this Agreement was signed in development of the basic Treaty on friendship and cooperation between the republics, signed by President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba and President of Syria, Bashar Assad, on September 4. "This agreement was a logical step in the development of the Abkhaz-Syrian cooperation. We have already developed very close and productive relations with Syrian colleagues, " - he noted.

Minister of Economy of Abkhazia explained that duty-free trade regime will stimulate the development of Abkhaz business on international level. "Our task is to create the most comfortable conditions for entrepreneurs of our countries. And this Agreement will certainly contribute to intensification of our economic relations. Moreover, Syria is intensively developing trade relations with Russia. And here Abkhazia, taking into account our transit possibilities and preferential conditions for localization of business will play a special role, "- considers Adgur Ardzinba. The advantage for economic cooperation with Syria is the relatively small distance between the Sukhum seaport and the main seaport of Syria-Latakia. "The distance is about 1,400 nautical miles, and a cargo ship can overcome it in 5 days," - said Adgur Ardzinba.
