"On the basis of complaints of the residents of Gagra about violations of the terms of catch by fishing vessels, the State Committee started investigation. The results showed that the fears of the residents of Gagra were unfounded. Inspectors of the State Committee on Ecology studied the area and found no gross violations", - the deputy chairman of the State Committee on Ecology Murman Solomko.

The State Committee on Ecology and Nature Protection reviewed the situation with the fishing in the waters of Cape Pitsunda. According to the results of the audit, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Ecology Sołomko Murman told "Apsnypress": "On the basis of complaints of the residents of Gagra about violations of the terms of catch by fishing vessels, the State Committee conducted an investigation. The results showed that the fears were unfounded. Inspectors of the State Committee on Ecology studied the area and found no gross violations".

According Sołomko, residents of Gagra provided no evidence to support their fears, but despite this, SCE held an investigation. As a result, a number of well-founded were only voiced complaints: noise from the motor fishing boats at night and "fritegning" potential catch of fishermen. However, in his opinion, these factors can not be cause for expulsion of fishing vessels from the waters of Cape Pitsunda. In addition, 95% of the catch remains in the domestic market of Abkhazia and the Abkhaz processed at enterprises that pay taxes to the state budget and provide people with jobs. During the period from 19 December 2014 to date, revenues from the country's fish processing enterprises amounted to more than 60 million rubles.

With regard to concerns about illegal fishing by the Turkish vessels, the chairman of State Committee for Ecology said that each fishing vessel, carrying out fishing in the waters of Abkhazia, tested the joint committee, composed of border control AR, Port Authority, Customs Committee and the State Committee on Ecology inspectors. All vessels are required to obtain permits and licenses to fish, after which the ship's captain handed fishing magazine in which he is obliged to mark the place, time and means of catching fish. Also, periodically, in conjunction with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Abkhazia, held raid activities at sea and in ports in order to monitor the fishing grounds and detect violations of fishing regulations. Moreover, according to the chief of control and inspection department of the SCE Timur Dzyba, the residents of Gagra made unfounded statements about Fishery Turkish firms fishing in the waters of Abkhazia. "In the Abkhazian waters there are no Turkish companies, but there are Turkish fishing vessels, fish processing enterprises employed by the Abkhaz. This is due to the fact that Abkhazia does not have a fishing fleet, and therefore have to resort to the services of the Turkish vessels", - said Timur Dzyba.

Timur Dzyba also noted that during the fishing season SCE inspectors did not identify a single case of catch demersal fish, particularly flounder, mullet and sturgeon. After authorization of the Cabinet and the approved list of companies committed to the industrial catching of anchovy, December 19, 2014 in the waters of the Republic of Abkhazia began fishing season (commercial catch of anchovy). To date, its active phase has been completed. Official closing of the season of catching of anchovy will be held on March 31.

According to scientific data, in Abkhazian waters comes to about 110 thousand tonnes of anchovy, of which 40% are allowed to catch.

During the fishing season allowed catch of anchovy and a small amount of horse mackerel (100 tons).
