The event was organized jointly by the embassies of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Sukhum. August 31. Apsnypress. Diplomatic reception on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Russia's recognition of independence of the Republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia was held in Moscow, at the cultural center of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The ceremonial event organized and held jointly by the embassies of Abkhazia and South Ossetia was attended by heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow, representatives of the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry and GlavUpDK, federal executive bodies, heads and representatives of Russian regions in Moscow, and representatives of the Abkhaz and Ossetian diasporas.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to Russia Igor Akhba, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev, Director of the Fourth CIS Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alexey Pavlovsky addressed the audience.
Igor Akhba in his speech noted that the Abkhaz people, the leadership of the Republic of Abkhazia consistently went to the International recognition day building a sovereign, independent state.
The diplomat stressed that Russia's recognition of the independence of Abkhazia marked the transition to a new, completely different level of relations between sovereign states. "The Republic of Abkhazia is committed to developing and strengthening cooperation and interaction with the Russian Federation as its closest neighbor and strategic partner," - Akhba said.
The festive event was decorated with Abkhazian, Ossetian and Russian folk dances.
The hall was decorated by works of the artists of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Great interest was caused by paintings of Boris Ashuba, telling about the history of Abkhazia.
Numerous congratulatory telegrams were sent from senators, heads of Russian regions, State Duma deputies, and representatives of constituent entities of the Russian Federation in Moscow.
