Sukhum. 26 April. Apsnypress. Damey Kaslandziya / Lana Tsvizhba. The Abkhazian State University hosted a round table on "Strengthening NATO's military presence in the Black Sea region. National security of Abkhazia ". The organizers of the event were ASU and the 7th military base of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. At the event, experts, political scientists, representatives of the Defense Ministry, the 7th military base of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia, students, students of SVOKU and police schools students discussed the problems of strengthening NATO's military presence in the Black Sea area using the territory of Georgia as a springboard for advancing interests Alliance in the region under the pretext of restraining Russia's occupation policy.

Opening the event, vice-rector of the ASU Victor Malandziya noted: "Today's theme is not new. It has been discussed at various levels for a decade, but it does not cease to be relevant. Global events that are taking place at the moment, are forced to return us to this problem. It is important for us to understand what kind of risks and threats are those or other events".

At the same time, the lecturer of the Chair of History and Theory of International Relations of the ASU Karine Sepyan reminded that Georgia still refuses to sign a legally binding document on the non-use of force against Abkhazia and does not agree to adopt a joint statement of commitment to the nonuse of force. "The only platform for dialogue is the Geneva discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia. Discussion is conducted in the format of two working groups - on security and humanitarian issues. Abkhaz-Russian cooperation in the field of security ensures the preservation of military balance and deterrence of the military presence of NATO, and also creates in the person of Abkhazia a reliable outpost of Russia's strategic interests in Transcaucasia and the Black Sea region, "- Sepian said.

The assistant to the intelligence chief of the 7th military base, captain Andrey Tyrtov, informed about the military potential of Georgia and also noted that the level of technical equipment and organization of the Georgian army is one of the most combat-ready in the Transcaucasian region.

In addition, the roundtable discussed issues of conflicts in the South Caucasus, the expansion of NATO's military presence in the region, the strategic alliance of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation, as well as the military and political situation in the world and in the Black Sea region.
